happy christmas everybody

Many of you will have seen the Bugatti Veyron on Top Gear this week and will no doubt be marvelling at it as an engineering feat, and it is. I’m a great fan of things which are done, not for the money, not because some marketing has been done and it showed a gap in the market, not for any commercial reason, but because it seemed like a good idea at the time. There are just not many opportunities anymore to have a dream and throw as much money at it as it needs to be completed, the shareholders just don’t like it.
Yes, it has 1000 horse power. Yes, it has two engines fused together and then some turbochargers on top. That’s all great, but just look at it, now try and convince yourself that someone hasn’t invented time travel and brought it back from the future.
What you are were looking at now is the catch winter stylesheet. The place needed a little change and with Christmas just around the corner, you can see what’s been done. Doubtless it will change again in the new year, just how much will change is yet to be decided.

I’ve uploaded some photos that I took one morning this week between Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. You can see them in the dorset coast album of the photo section.
The above view shows ‘Dungy Head’ from the ridge above Durdle Door. You may recognise it as the view that I have hanging on my wall.
It’s places and views like this that remind me how lucky I am to live down here.
I’m not going to rant on about how great the Doves were last night as you’ll just ignore me and put it down to blatant bias. Rest assured, there’s nothing like “There goes the fear” being played live. It’s just a shame that the crowd was a little thin on the ground and that the acoustics in the lighthouse (which looks really good after it’s refurbishment) weren’t up to the standards of other venues.
Also worth a mention were the folk support Tunng, especially for their cover of Bloc Party’s ‘The Pioneers’.
Sang the crowd today, and what a circus it is (yes I am talking about saints). I turned up for the thoroughly uneventful (hurray for draws) game against Burnley this afternoon, not having the first clue what was going on at the club and more importantly, who would be ‘managing’ the team for the day. We seem to have a leadership which is in turmoil and seems unwilling to let the fans know what is going on, players who seem unfit, uninterested and who don’t seem to think as a team, and fans who want to have a go at the chairman instead of backing the 11 in front of them and then want to have a go at each other.
I’ve seen it this season, we’ve got the players (although some have been loaned off), I believe we’ve got the backroom staff and I’m sure there’s the right ideas in there somewhere to start the team performing like they should be, and more importantly, to start winning games.
I don’t want to keep spending £20 a time watching the rubbish that I saw today and in previous weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I will keep spending it, I just don’t want to. Some of us are stuck with this club forever, we don’t want to move, we just want things to improve.
