Welcome to Catch
a story of coffee, music and football

the official album of autumn 2005

Whether you knew it or not, Jackinabox by Turin Brakes was the

official album of the summer. If they had played at the IOW festival, the whole thing

would have been complete. But with the onset of autumn (rain, wind, schools going back

etc.) it’s time to reveal the official album for autumn, Leaves - The Angela

Test.

my office

I’m generally not going to talk about work on here, but this

is an exception. This is where I work, it’s called The Pentagon and it’s quite

impressive, what with the glass walls, lake, leather sofas, roof garden, freshly ground

coffee machines and so on…

…sadly I am developing a habit of having a croissant

with my coffee every morning. At this rate the place is going to make me fat!

(on a

footnote: Saints win their second game of the season, shock!)

Edit (25th

August): There have been lots of chocolate muffins around in the last few days, it’s

not good, actually, yes it is!

this week (so far) in review

Monday
- Got up at 6 to drive

back to Abingdon for work.
- After work, went to Tesco to buy obscure new indie album,

but they didn’t stock it (shock). So I went to look in an Asda, but I couldn’t find one

of those, drove home.
- Dissapointed at the lack of proper music shops in

Oxfordshire.

Tuesday
- Went into Abingdon town centre to search for said

cd, still no luck.
- Went drinking at work’s expense.
- Got locked in my own

bathroom and only managed to escape with the use of a pair of

tweezers.

Wednesday
- Ordered cd from play.com (thank goodness for the

internet).
- Went swimming (in the local pool which is always freezing!).
- Got very

dissapointed that nobody got eaten in Lost.

… and you thought my life was

boring!

home sweet home

You never really

appreciate anything until you have to go without it. Home fits into this category.

Nowhere else in the country feels quite like it. Abingdon may be very nice, it’s green,

there are the canals & locks, it’s quiet, but I can’t help feel that it will never be

home in more than definition alone. At no time in the 3 years while in Southampton at uni

did it ever feel like home.

I do know where home is. Home is the small area around

Wareham, encompassing Poole and The Purbecks. Every time I went home on the train while at

uni, the train would shoot through Parkstone and I would smile as the view opened out to

see Brownsea Island across the bay on one side of the train and Poole Park on the other.

The buildings protruding above the treetops, the sails on the boats, the odd kite, the

reflection of the sun across the bay. The sight would warm my heart. Happy

Days.

Just how long can one stay away?

first day of the season

It may only be the start of August, but

yesterday marked the official start to the football league season (and the end of the

pre-season games where the result didn’t matter). Saints are renowned for being poor

starters, and yesterday was no exception…

good souls

I’ve been

trying to find which Starsilor lyric to sums up the

way I’m feeling right now. This is it:

As I turn to you and I say
Thank

goodness for the good souls
That make life better
As I turn to you and I say
If

it wasn’t for the good souls
Life would not matter

I hope the good souls know

who they are.

2 days down

I’ve made it through 2 days of work, if I

get through tomorrow it’ll be the longest I’ve been in a permenant job, hurrah!
